Forgetting Those Things Which Are Behind to Embrace the New
“When you stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch you.” ~ Lolly Daskal
Forgetting those things which are behind is not about forgetting cherished memories or life’s lessons, but rather refusing to allow the past to hold you hostage and keep you from what lies ahead.
Forgetting begins with a decision to release yourself from the past and the responsibility you might have to stay in a place mentally and physically that no longer fits the purpose for which you were called. Times and seasons change, but falling into a place of complacency is a reality for you and so many like you.
You feel it’s best to stay in a place of comfort and familiarity rather than to venture out on faith, where you are positioned for something fresh and new. I want to challenge you to permit yourself to move past the chokehold of regrets, bad decisions, good moments, and the grief of what you thought should have happened but didn’t.
Life is constantly presenting growth opportunities, and one way to mature is by recognizing when to let things go. Forgetting those things that are behind to embrace the new is not allowing the past to control you. I personally know all too well what it's like to replay things in the mind or question whether you should have done things differently, but I also realized that doing this kept me in a cycle of reliving the past and possibly delaying the new chapter that awaits me.
I encourage you to forget those things that are behind you, not in a way that you don’t remember what happened or where you don’t glean lessons from them, but in a way that will catapult you to your next phase of life. You can’t change the past, but you can change your now and position yourself for a greater future.
Greater is awaiting your arrival.
