The Moment of Recognition: You Were Never Meant to Be Small
by Dr. Vanda a.k.a. Queen Vanda
There comes a defining moment in a woman’s life when she recognizes she has been living beneath the fullness of who God created her to be. Perhaps you have spent years shrinking — holding back your opinions, minimizing your accomplishments, second-guessing your abilities, or making yourself smaller so others could feel more comfortable. Then one day, something shifts. You realize that God never called you to disappear. He called you to rise.
Spiritually, the habit of shrinking often begins when you lose sight of your identity in Christ. Fear, rejection, comparison, and disappointment can convince you that your voice does not matter or that your presence is insignificant. Yet God's Word tells a different story. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). Fear encourages you to retreat, but faith empowers you to step forward with confidence in who God says you are.
Moreover, honoring your voice begins with recognizing that God gave it to you for a reason. Your experiences, wisdom, testimony, and perspective have value. There are conversations you are meant to influence, prayers you are meant to pray, and lives you are meant to impact. When you continually silence yourself, you may also be silencing what God desires to accomplish through you. Your voice is not an accident. It is part of your assignment.
Likewise, honoring your value means seeing yourself through God's eyes rather than through the lens of past wounds or others' opinions. Psalm 139:14 reminds you, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Your worth is not determined by how much you achieve, how much you give, or how others perceive you. Your worth was established by God before you ever entered the world. The moment you embrace that truth, you stop seeking permission to exist and start walking in the confidence of being His daughter.
Furthermore, honoring your God-given presence means understanding that you belong where God has placed you. You do not need to apologize for taking up space in the room, pursuing your call, or allowing your gifts to shine. Jesus declared, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid" (Matthew 5:14). Light was never intended to hide itself, and neither were you.
Today, embrace the moment of recognition. You were never meant to be small. You were created to walk boldly in God's purpose, speak with confidence, and live fully in the space He has prepared for you. Honor your voice. Honor your value. Honor your God-given presence because the world needs the woman God created you to be.
