The Journey in Rediscovering Me
“The greatest discovery in life is self-discovery. Until you find yourself, you will always be someone else. Become Yourself.” ~ Dr. Myles Munroe
The journey of life comes with many uncertainties and adversities, and sometimes in these moments, you slowly drift away into an unknown being who has mastered the art of existing among others with an outer appearance of happiness and confidence.
However, within, there is a daily battle of you questioning who you are. That once confident, secure woman whose faith was the driving force behind her moves has now retreated to a place of private battles, fighting daily to get back to the woman you once were or greater.
I know that woman because I had become her. Slowly drifting into a box of fear and loss of creativity, going in a vicious cycle of seeing movement in my head, but my actions were paralyzed by past trauma and fear. If this is you today, you are not alone. Your journey of rediscovering yourself is available if you are willing to put in the work.
Admitting where you are is a step in the right direction.
As you release your fears, pain, and hurt into the hands of God in prayer, journaling, and reading His word, be reminded of what He says about you.
Reaching out to qualified clinicians who will assist you in discovering the root issue and present a plan of treatment can help you get back on track. Reaching out to a therapist is not a badge of embarrassment or dishonor of your faith.
Surround yourself with people who see you for all of who you are, even if you can’t see it yet. People who will speak life into you and challenge you to be better.
Lastly, do not diminish your gifts, talents, or the favor on your life to appease others. It can be a process but learn to be comfortable with who you are and put up a closed sign to doubt, fear, and playing it small.
Here is to rediscovering you.
