Growth Through Pain

by Rita Taylor

It may sound weird, but pain has a purpose. Yes! A Purpose.

We’ve all at some point experienced pain in our bodies and that pain was an indicator that something was wrong. Contingent upon the pain and the pain level, you sought out help to assist in getting to the root cause of the pain. Dependent upon the findings, you were treated onsite or given something that would help over a period if you followed the instructions given by the physician. The purpose of the pain was to inform you that something in your body was off and for you to get better it needed to be addressed.

This is how life can be. In those moments of pain and uncertainties, you may not be able to fathom what God can bring from your pain, but I assure you, there is purpose in your pain.

Pain produces opportunities for some of life’s greatest lessons. Lessons of resilience, refocus, realignment with purpose, and strength you never knew you had. Growth can come from pain and that purpose in pain is to pay your life lessons forward. Be a testimony of what not permanently resting in your pain but what choosing to rise above it looks like. Share how you overcome and how growth comes from the pain.

Growth in how you see yourself, growth in your confidence and growth in your abilities to overcome obstacles you face. Recognizing the pain was not absent of tears or questions, but recognizing the pain was wrapped in opportunities and purpose the entire time.

I know personally that some of our greatest opportunities normally come through pain because someone will face a comparable situation as yours and from your experience and lessons they too can overcome just as you did.

In closing, I want to encourage you not to discount your painful season because there is purpose in your pain.
